Google Chromebook Acer Samsung Google Laptop: A Welcome Surprise in an Apple Dominated MarketWhen it was first introduced in July, there was a lot of skepticism concerning the Google laptop. Week after week, reviews rolled out, claiming that Google had made a mistake in trying to realize its vision of a web based computing experience. With its Chromebook laptop PC, Google has shut all the wagging tongues.

With Google outselling all that was expected of it, a lot of the Chromebook’s critics have been surprised. Samsung and Acer, who were the first ones to produce the Google laptop, have begun to find it hard to meet the increasing demands. In fact, the production has been increased several times over the last few months to meet this increased demand of the Chrome laptop. Indeed, these mobile computers have become extremely popular in a record time – despite containing a technology which is completely different from what is known traditionally.

When Google first unveiled its plans of the Chrome laptop, many critics scoffed and turned their noses. They could not believe that the Chromebook would be able to do much in the tech markets, despite reports of unbeatable speed and the simplicity of use. Google had also, by then, come up with a plan through which all the data and memory could be tied to the internet through its cloud service. Yet, there was a lot of skepticism that surrounded the computer.

Some critics offered genuine concerns regarding the mobility and the connectivity problems that the Chrome laptop would eventually face. However, with clever marketing techniques and a lease program in place for businesses and educational institutes, Google was able to subvert this problem as well.

More of the skepticism arose out of the premise that in a market which was already gripped by a preference for Apple’s innovative products, the simple web based Chrome laptop would not be able to hold a rightful place. However, Amazon’s list of the best selling laptops, taken out only months after the launch of the Chromebook, put all doubts to rest. In this list, 4 of the Chromebook models figured in the top 17 spots. One of the Chromebook models even managed to score the number 2 position, just shy of Apple’s MacBook Air, which perched at number 1.

While the present still continues to favor the Chromebook, and any major problems with this laptop are yet to be reported, the future will only tell which of the laptops has what it takes to keep the competition ablaze.
